Melvin's mother, Masithela's Chewy: Born 03.09.98
She has raised 16 puppies in three litters. There were puppies born with Dermoid Sinus in all three litters. 11 of her 12 offspring in the first two litters, have been x-rayed, and both hips and elbows are clear A's (Excellent). The four puppies from her last litter, are still not old enough to be x-rayed. None of her offspring has shown any sign of other inherited deseases. There have been no reports or rumors, on any bad temperament on any of them. Chewy herself, is well known to have a good temperament.

Melvin’s father, Deschamps Zeus: Born 1997
He has fathered 7 litters with a total of 62 puppies. Only half of these have been x-rayed, and there are six offspring with HD in various degrees. One has a mild form of ED. We have no certain facts on his offspring’s temperament, but many have been Mentality Tested, and none show any obvious sign of aggression or fear. Zeus is well known as a good tempered dog, and he has also been used on many occasions on hunting deer and moose.

Melvin’s siblings:
Mira, Madame and Manu. All have been x-rayed on hips and elbows with excellent results. Both Mira and Manu died young, Mira from bloat and Manu from an infectious thyroid gland. Madame has had one litter with 12 puppies. Two of these had Dermoid Sinus and was put to sleep. All her offspring have been x-rayed with excellent results. Both Mira and Manu were very good tempered, and Madame charms everyone in her path.

Melvin:
At the age of almost 5 years, Melvin still acts like a yearling. Tug-war, playing with sticks, searching for objects or treats, and playing with his favorite toy (a stuffed cow!!), fills up much of Melvin’s day. He often joins his family to watch Sandra or Sebastian play foot-ball, and here stays calm despite all the commotion. Melvin is always around when the kids have birthday-parties or just friends on a visit, and he doesn’t mind being their toy for a while. While with other dogs, he does his best to avoid any sort of conflict, and only pulls rank when the young males get too boisterous. He has yet to be in a fight with any of them. He is actually most happy when Shacko is around and takes control.
